Data Engineer

As a Data Engineer at BAE Systems Digital Intelligence, you design and build data collection, integration and ETL pipelines to make data accessible to stakeholders. You model data flows and lifecycle controls to ensure governance of corporate assets. You will select and evaluate data platforms, supporting metadata and records management for structured and unstructured data. This role connects you with a mission-driven team delivering critical security and intelligence solutions. You will work in a hybrid setting to support national security impact at scale.

• Design, develop, test and support data collection, integration and ETL applications
• Model data requirements, sources and flows to structure programmes of work
• Define data lifecycle governance including creation, mastering and destruction of data assets
• Use data platform categories to collect, store, visualize and govern data and metadata
• Define metadata for searchability and governance (including Records Management) for unstructured data

• Experience in Data Engineering/Analysis/Science with solid programming background
• Proven ability with ETL tools and Python; familiarity with Big Data applications
• Strong openness to Open Source data engineering platforms; ability to evaluate and compare options
• Understanding of databases (structured, unstructured, NoSQL, big data) and data modeling techniques
• Experience in Cyber Security/Intelligence domain desirable
• Active eDV security clearance is required
