As a Data Engineer, you will design, build and maintain reliable data pipelines and data models to enable reporting, analytics and operational workflows for DK within the Penguin Random House data ecosystem. You will collaborate across DK and PRH to ensure secure, accessible data aligned with data standards, while improving governance, documentation and monitoring. The role combines hands-on data engineering with cross-functional liaison to drive scalable and trustworthy data solutions. This is a chance to shape data infrastructure in a collaborative center of excellence and support data-driven decision making.

- Build and manage data pipelines enabling data movement for reporting, analytics and operations
- Maintain DK’s Snowflake environment including models, schemas, performance and data quality
- Consolidate data from multiple sources while ensuring security and alignment with PRH standards
- Automate manual data and reporting processes using cloud tools, GitHub and related services
- Manage CI/CD for data solutions, ensuring tests, documentation and safe environment promotion
- Support BI and reporting needs with dashboards and tools (Power BI, Microsoft Fabric)
- Create clear technical documentation and data definitions for stakeholders
- Support testing, incident resolution and performance monitoring for DK data solutions
- Lead technical discussions and share best practices across data engineering, automation, data modeling and BI
- Continuously improve DK data infrastructure by adopting better ways of working and staying current with tools
- Coordinate with Data Governance to maintain monitoring, alerting and metadata updates
- Proven experience designing, building and maintaining scalable data integration solutions
- Strong Snowflake knowledge including schema design, access controls and performance
- Excellent SQL skills in Snowflake for extraction, transformation and analysis
- Strong Python skills for data processing and automation
- Experience with ETL/ELT frameworks and tools such as dbt, Fivetran or similar
- Experience with BI data modeling and tools like Power BI or Microsoft Fabric (or Looker)
- Experience translating business needs for data solutions and working with technical/non-technical stakeholders
- Good understanding of data governance, data quality, privacy and compliance
- Familiarity with cloud services and CI/CD practices (e.g., GitHub Actions)
