Overview

In this role you will engineer and maintain enterprise databases across relational and NoSQL ecosystems within a large-scale data transformation program in financial services. You will work with application teams to deploy production-ready database solutions, emphasizing automation, reliability, and platform modernization. The position focuses on core engineering and repeatable patterns, with separate teams handling production patching and backups. You’ll help shape scalable, compliant data platforms in a hybrid environment.

Responsibilities
  • Engineers, configures, deploys, and administers relational and NoSQL databases (Oracle, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Cassandra, Couchbase) including cloud equivalents
  • Builds and maintains databases across development, test, staging, and production
  • Develops IaC and automated processes for provisioning, configuration, DDL deployment, and CI/CD release management
  • Monitors performance and resolves bottlenecks (queries, indexing, connections, locking, storage, replication)
  • Configures high availability, clustering, replication, and disaster recovery
  • Manages security, access controls, encryption, vulnerability remediation, and compliance
  • Collaborates with developers and data architects to align deployments with standards
  • Performs complex troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, incident management, and capacity planning
  • Documents runbooks, standards, and reusable engineering patterns to standardize the estate
Key requirements
  • Proven database engineering and administration in large-scale, highly regulated environments (financial services or banking)
  • Strong production experience with Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL and NoSQL platforms (MongoDB, Cassandra, Couchbase)
  • Familiarity with cloud-equivalent database implementations and modern database technologies
  • Automation-first mindset with experience implementing automated release mechanisms
  • Proactive learning and adoption of new database capabilities
