Norman Broadband is partnering with a rapidly scaling company to look for a Data Engineering Manager. You’ll work closely with the company senior leadership team, in an environment where data is increasingly central to commercial decision-making.


The business operates at the intersection of Energy, Technology and the transition to a more flexible electricity system. It is developing and operating utility-scale battery energy storage projects across Europe, with ambitious plans for further growth. This is an opportunity to have a genuinely outsized impact, taking ownership of the company's data capability and help build it into a genuine competitive advantage. You’ll be working with rich datasets relating to areas such as battery state of charge and health, electricity trading, alongside commercial and operational data. There is plenty to build, improve and integrate.


There is also further career progression potential for the role to broaden significantly as the organisation grows.


Key Responsibilities of Data Engineering Manager:


Data Strategy – shaping the roadmap for how the organisation captures, manages and uses data

Data Engineering – developing scalable pipelines, ETL/ELT processes, integrations and data models

Business Intelligence – overseeing Power BI, dashboards, semantic models and self-service analytics

Stakeholder Partnering – working directly with senior leaders and colleagues across the business to turn commercial and operational requriements into useful data solutions

Team Leadership – managing and developing a small team of Data Engineers and BI Specialists, including external resources where required

Data Governance – establishing the standards, quality and processes needed as the business continues to scale


Key Qualifications & Skills of Data Engineering Manager:


• Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering or a related discipline, or

equivalent practical experience

• Strong data engineering experience, including SQL, Python, DBT, Snowflake and Airflow

• Experience building and maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines and data models

• Experience with Power BI / BI and ideally semantic models and self-service analytics

• Good understanding of data warehousing, business intelligence and reporting best practices

• Experience with cloud-based data platforms (Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud)

• Experience leading a team and delivering projects

• Equally comfortable with strategy and execution

• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills

• Experience in an environment characterised by growth, complexity and ambiguity

• Experience from Energy, Renewables, Infrastructure, Engineering, Construction or other technically complex environments
