Data Engineering Manager Real-Time Platforms

Lead data engineering teams at eBay, shaping Kafka and Spark platforms that support real-time insights, analytics, experimentation, and personalized marketplace experiences.

As a Data Engineering Manager, you will grow engineers and guide scalable batch and streaming solutions. You will set technical direction across Kafka, Flink, Spark, Databricks, Airflow, dbt, and AWS. The team enables trusted data consumption for product, analytics, and machine learning use cases.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead, coach, and develop an inclusive data engineering team
• Design scalable real-time and batch data pipelines
• Define roadmaps for streaming, orchestration, transformation, and observability
• Partner with Product, Data Science, Analytics, and Engineering
• Improve architecture, testing, reliability, performance, and cost efficiency

Requirements:

• Experience leading engineering teams and complex data initiatives
• Strong foundation in distributed systems and cloud data platforms
• Knowledge of Kafka, Spark, Flink, Databricks, Airflow, dbt, or AWS
• Experience with data quality, observability, testing, and production support
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience
