Overview

As Senior Engineering Manager at FanDuel, you lead a data-focused team to build scalable pipelines and data products that power analytics, fraud detection, and reporting. You will partner with data architects and product teams to define strategy, uphold platform governance, and ensure reliable, cost-efficient operations. You’ll coach engineers and consultants, drive cross-team collaboration, and deliver high-impact data initiatives. Responsibilities
  • Lead design, build, and continuous improvement of scalable data pipelines and data products on Databricks and AWS
  • Manage and grow a team of up to 9 data engineers and 5 consultants, including hiring, onboarding, performance reviews, and career development
  • Plan and prioritize work to deliver on-time and on-quality, balancing discovery, platform investment, and run-the-business
  • Own production health, SLAs, incident response, and proactively resolve risks and dependencies
  • Drive data architecture decisions, align across teams, and maintain platform coherence
Key requirements
  • 10+ years in Data Engineering, Data Platform, or related data roles
  • 3+ years leading engineering teams with coaching and performance management
  • Experience building scalable data platforms and production-grade pipelines
  • Proficiency in Python, Scala, or similar languages
  • Experience with modern cloud data platforms (Databricks preferred, Delta Lake, Snowflake, BigQuery)
  • Proven track record leading cross-functional initiatives from concept to production
  • Experience setting up self-healing, monitoring, and alerting (Monte Carlo, PagerDuty, DataDog)
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Excellent people management, communication, and facilitation skills
