Data Governance Executive

Overview
In this role you help establish and operate Softcat’s Data Governance framework. You’ll work with the Data Governance Manager, data owners and technical teams to ensure data is accurate, trusted and well-governed. You will support data quality initiatives, maintain glossaries and governance processes, and promote a data-driven culture. This is an opportunity to shape how data is managed across the organisation and collaborate across business and technical teams to drive positive outcomes.

- Support the implementation and ongoing operation of Softcat's Data Governance framework
- Maintain governance documentation including data definitions, standards and quality rules
- Support rollout and adoption of data governance tools and platforms
- Monitor data quality and assist with issue investigation, root cause analysis and remediation
- Manage and maintain metadata, business glossaries and data dictionaries
- Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to promote governance best practice
- Support continuous improvement initiatives that enhance data quality and governance processes
- Strong understanding of data governance principles including data quality, metadata, lineage and ownership
- Experience working with data in an operational, analytical or data-focused role
- Excellent attention to detail and a passion for improving data accuracy and quality
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to explain data concepts clearly
- Confidence collaborating across business and technical teams to drive positive outcomes
- Experience with data governance, data quality or metadata management tools such as Microsoft Purview (desirable)
- Familiarity with data models, data flow diagrams and governance frameworks such as DAMA-DMBOK (desirable)
- Interest in promoting data literacy and embedding best practice across an organisation
