Overview

In this role you will establish and continuously enhance the firm’s data governance framework, ensuring data accuracy, trust, protection, and regulatory compliance. You will partner across business and tech to set standards, policies, and controls that support analytics, automation, and AI. You will act as the central data governance expert for owners, stewards, and custodians, driving consistency and accountability. You will lead cross-functional governance activities and partner with compliance to manage GDPR and AI governance. This is a strategic, impact-driven opportunity to shape how data supports risk management and decision-making across the organisation.

Responsibilities
  • Lead development and continuous improvement of the data governance framework
  • Define and maintain data quality standards, ownership models, metadata management, and data lineage documentation
  • Drive data classification and access control across case management, finance, and CRM systems
  • Establish and monitor data quality KPIs and work with stakeholders to resolve issues
  • Provide guidance and training to enable data owners and stewards to govern data effectively
  • Partner with the DPO to ensure regulatory compliance (GDPR)
  • Support DPIAs and governance of data used in AI/ML solutions
  • Serve as primary contact for data-related regulatory and governance matters
  • Define policies for third-party and AI vendor data handling
  • Chair a cross-functional data governance forum with documented decisions and actions
Key requirements
  • Proven experience designing, implementing, or improving data governance in complex or regulated environments
  • Good working knowledge of UK GDPR and its practical application
  • Experience with data catalog, metadata, and data lineage tools (e.g., Microsoft Purview)
  • Knowledge of master data management and data quality practices
  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, including engagement with senior leadership
  • Experience driving governance initiatives while balancing operational needs
