As Vessel Team Data Manager you lead a data-focused team to ensure vessel particulars and company data are accurate and evolving to meet customer needs. You will collaborate with Product, Engineering, Data, and Commercial teams to shape how maritime data is collected, managed, and delivered. Your leadership will drive data excellence and scalable processes in a fast-growing global company. This role offers impact across maritime intelligence and data-driven decision making.
Responsibilities- Lead, coach, and develop a team of data analysts with a focus on growth and continuous improvement
- Serve as SME for Vessel Particulars & Companies data and business logic
- Identify and integrate new datasets into databases
- Develop and test business logic, dashboards, and curate datasets
- Allocate resources, identify training needs, and support team members
- Implement automation, ingest new data sources, and maintain platforms
- Collaborate with tech stakeholders for infrastructure needs and support data-driven decisions for commercial teams
- Enhance data quality and align the team with company objectives
- Manage KPIs and OKRs, provide improvement insights, and support product development
- 8+ years in data management, analytics, or related roles
- 2+ years in people management
- SME-level knowledge of maritime industry (vessel data, shipping operations)
- Proven experience building and developing technical data teams
- Advanced SQL and Python skills
- Experience with ETL design/optimization, API data ingestion, and web-scraping frameworks
- Familiarity with data visualization tools (Tableau, Looker)
- Understanding of statistical methods for automated data validation
