Data platform and integration manager

Sense

Birmingham · England · United Kingdom

We're looking for a Data Platform and Integration Manager to join our Technology team at Sense, helping us transform how we use data and cloud technologies to support our people, services and the disabled people we work alongside.

This is an exciting opportunity to take a leading role in our technology transformation programme, shaping and delivering modern, secure and scalable data platforms that enable better decision-making, improve operational efficiency and support our long-term ambitions.

Reporting to our Head of Technology Solutions, you will lead the development, delivery and ongoing management of our core data platforms and integrations. You will play a key role in implementing our modern data platform, ensuring our systems work effectively together and that our data is secure, accessible and reliable. Working closely with colleagues across Technology and the wider organisation, you'll translate business needs into practical technical solutions, manage external suppliers and help shape our future data architecture.

You will also lead and develop a team of two Data Engineers, with the opportunity to influence how our team and technology capabilities evolve over the coming years.

Key responsibilities

  • Leading the implementation and ongoing development of our cloud-based data platforms and integrations.
  • Developing and maintaining a clear roadmap aligned with our wider technology transformation programme.
  • Overseeing data pipelines, system integrations, automation and platform improvements.
  • Ensuring our data platforms are secure, resilient, reliable and compliant with relevant standards.
  • Managing relationships with external technology partners and suppliers, ensuring effective delivery and value for money.
  • Working collaboratively with technical teams, business leaders and stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver solutions.
  • Leading, supporting and developing two Data Engineers.
  • Driving continuous improvement in our technology processes, governance and ways of working.

About you

We are looking for someone who combines strong technical knowledge with excellent delivery, leadership and stakeholder management skills. We need you to be comfortable working across both strategic and operational priorities, with the ability to communicate complex technical information clearly and build effective relationships across an organisation.

You will bring:

  • Experience delivering complex technical projects, ideally involving data, cloud or enterprise platforms.
  • A strong understanding of Microsoft Azure and modern data technologies such as Azure Data Factory, Synapse and Power BI.
  • Knowledge of data governance, information security and regulatory requirements relating to personal data.
  • Experience managing third-party technology suppliers, contracts or service-level agreements.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to work confidently with technical and non-technical colleagues.
  • A collaborative, solutions-focused approach and a genuine interest in using technology to create positive social impact.

Experience within the charity, social care or public sector would be advantageous, as would knowledge of workflow automation, integration technologies and relevant cloud or project management certifications.

Our Values

Our values shape the way we behave and work alongside disabled people with complex needs to break down barriers:

  • We're better together
