Data Platform Lead

In this Data Platform Lead role, you own a modern, cloud-based data platform (AWS, Snowflake, dbt) while guiding a team of Data Engineers. You combine hands-on delivery with people leadership to shape the platform’s technical direction and team growth. You’ll enable analytics, reporting, and future AI initiatives by delivering scalable data pipelines and trusted data assets. Expect cross-functional collaboration to balance business demand with platform maturity, governance, and resilience. This is a chance to influence product experiences and decision-making through robust data foundations.

• salary: 90,000 – 105,000 + bonus
• location: Cardiff – onsite once a week (hybrid)

• Lead the development and evolution of a cloud-based data platform (AWS, Snowflake, dbt)
• Mentor, coach and develop a team of Data Engineers; set engineering standards
• Design and deliver scalable data pipelines, reusable data models, and trusted datasets
• Own the platform roadmap balancing demand, technical debt, resilience and scalability
• Collaborate with Technology, Product, Analytics, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into solutions
• Support initiatives like data model re-architecture, digital product delivery, and AI-ready data foundations
• Improve data quality, governance, observability, and overall platform maturity

• Strong hands-on data engineering experience
• Expertise in AWS, Snowflake and dbt
• Advanced SQL and modern data engineering practices
• Experience building and supporting production-scale data platforms
• Previous experience mentoring, coaching or leading engineers
