Data Science Lead – KYC/Onboarding

As Data Science Lead in Wise’s Verification Data Science team, you will shape the KYC data science roadmap and guide a growing team. You’ll apply ML to support document verification and risk mitigation during onboarding, directly impacting millions of customers. You’ll work with cross‑functional partners to align data initiatives with business goals and demonstrate value to stakeholders. This role combines leadership, production ML, and domain exploration to reduce fraud and improve customer experience.

• Own the data science roadmap and prioritise projects with cross‑functional teams
• Lead and mentor data scientists, providing coaching and career support
• Develop and productionise ML systems for KYC and document verification
• Manage large image and tabular datasets related to KYC processes
• Iterate on deep learning image models and optimise model performance
• Maintain a large Python codebase with best practices
• Communicate data science value and limitations to diverse stakeholders
• Stay updated on ML research and translate ideas into production improvements
• Collaborate on planning and ideation of data science projects

• Experience leading data science teams
• Strong understanding of ML lifecycle from training to production
• Proficiency in Python and production-grade codebases
• Knowledge of ML applied to document verification or similar domains
