Our public sector client is seeking a Data Scientist (5+ years) to develop and deploy AI/ML analytics solutions using Azure Synapse, Databricks, and Azure Machine Learning

Join a large-scale BI Enablement initiative focused on advancing AI-driven analytics, predictive modelling, and intelligent automation within a public sector environment. This role supports the development of AI/ML solutions, advanced analytics, and data-driven decision-making using Azure Synapse, Databricks, Apache Spark, SQL, Python, and Power BI. The position contributes to initiatives focused on service reliability, demand forecasting, and operational efficiency across complex datasets and business functions.

Contract, Toronto, Hybrid, Working Hours: EST

Must Haves

  • 5+ years in data science , machine learning , and advanced analytics
  • 5+ years with Azure SQL Server , Azure Synapse , and Azure Databricks
  • 5+ years using SQL and Python
  • Azure Machine Learning (AML) , Azure Open AI , Apache Spark , ETL pipelines , and Power BI

Nice to Have

  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer Associate
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure AI Engineer Associate
  • Understanding of the Ontario Human Rights Code (OHRC) and the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA)

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify business needs and implement data-driven solutions
  • Build, maintain, and optimize ETL pipelines
  • Process and transform large datasets using Azure Databricks and Apache Spark
  • Design, develop, and implement AI/ML models and advanced data analytics solutions
  • Develop and deploy machine learning models for predictive analytics
  • Create data visualizations and dashboards using Power BI or similar tools
  • Conduct exploratory data analysis, feature engineering, and predictive modelling
