Job Title: Data Center Technician

Job Description

The position of Data Center Technician offers a unique opportunity to gain hands‑on experience in the rapidly expanding data center industry. You will support the construction and commissioning of large-scale data centers, working alongside seasoned professionals. This role provides exposure to structured cabling, fiber optics, networking infrastructure, and overall data center operations.

Responsibilities

• Assist with material movement and site organization.
• Perform cable installation and general labor tasks.
• Work alongside experienced data center professionals.
• Exposure to structured cabling, fiber optics, and networking infrastructure.
• Contribute to data center operations.

Essential Skills

• Experience with low voltage troubleshooting and pulling wire.
• Knowledge of data cable, copper, and fiber optics.
• Proficiency in cable pulling, electrical work, and using hand tools.
• Minimum of 3-6 months of construction experience in roles such as electrician, laborer, or telecommunications.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work on ladders, overhead cable trays, and raised floors.
• Comfortable with FIFO and 3/1 rotation.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• CSTS certification is a plus.
• Experience with power, cooling, racks, and cabling.
• Previous data center experience is advantageous.

Work Environment

Technicians will live in hotels or camp‑style accommodations with the crew, participating in new construction and refurbishing projects. The site atmosphere is air‑cooled, which can be cold in the winter. The environment is a construction site, often dusty, with technicians primarily focused on splicing tasks. Travel to and from sites is facilitated through carpooling or buses. The role includes three different shifts and living situations, with varied overtime opportunities and differing days off.

This is a Contract position based out of Prince George, BC.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $39.00 - $42.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job‑related factors.
