Overview

In this role you will provide round-the-clock SQL database support for a fast-paced prop trading environment. You will troubleshoot incidents, drive root-cause analysis, and manage schema, capacity, and change control to ensure robust performance. You’ll collaborate with tech leads and development teams to align DB plans with strategic goals, while maintaining security, backups, and DR readiness. Responsibilities
  • Provide 24/7 support for critical databases
  • Troubleshoot incidents and perform root-cause analysis
  • Manage schema design, capacity planning, and change control
  • Baselining, benchmarking, performance analysis, and tuning
  • Enhance database maintenance routines
  • Collaborate with technical leads and development teams on project plans
  • Oversee backup, recovery, patching, and security policy implementation
  • Integrate SQL systems with third-party tools and environments
  • Establish and enforce database management policies and procedures
Key requirements
  • 5-10 years of hands-on database management experience
  • Strong analytical problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a team
  • Proven project management experience with end-to-end delivery
  • Knowledge of database design methodologies
  • Experience implementing database security protocols
  • Understanding of ETL best practices for large-scale systems
  • Experience optimizing performance and using monitoring tools (e.g., Performance Monitor, SQL Profile)
  • Specialized knowledge in MSSQL HA/DR
  • Automation experience with scripting languages
  • Index management and statistics maintenance
  • Exposure to Linux and PostgreSQL; InfluxDB is advantageous
  • Proficiency in .NET, C#, or C++ (preferred)
