Overview

Fuse Energy is looking for a backend/data-focused engineer to own the reliability and performance of our database stack and data pipelines. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to translate business needs into scalable data models and analytics capabilities. Your work will enable real-time analytics, reporting, and product insights as we scale our integrated energy platform. Responsibilities
  • Own the reliability, performance, and scalability of Fuse's database infrastructure across Postgres and ClickHouse
  • Build and maintain scalable data pipelines to support analytics, reporting, and product needs
  • Design and evolve analytical schemas translating business logic into structured data models
  • Migrate and transform data from Postgres into ClickHouse ensuring performance and reliability
  • Develop and maintain DBT models reflecting our business domain for accessible data
  • Implement tests and data quality checks to ensure trustworthy datasets
  • Identify and eliminate duplicates, improve data consistency, and enforce clean modelling standards
  • Manage all database and infrastructure changes through IaC — minimise direct DB modifications
Key requirements
  • 3+ years of experience in a backend or data-focused engineering role
  • Proficiency in Python and SQL
  • Hands-on experience with relational databases, especially Postgres
  • Experience designing schemas and data models reflecting real-world business logic
  • Familiarity with DBT or similar data transformation frameworks
  • Strong understanding of data validation, testing, and quality assurance
  • IaC tooling experience (Pulumi, AWS CDK) — treat database as code
  • Ability to quickly translate unfamiliar logic into clean data models
