Developer (SC/DV)

Overview

In this senior backend role, you will lead and collaborate across cross-functional teams to design and deliver cutting-edge digital solutions for Defence and Security clients. You’ll help shape architectural decisions, explain trade-offs to clients, and work within an Agile/DevOps culture to produce reliable, scalable cloud-native applications. You’ll partner with developers, UX designers, and strategists to turn complex problems into practical, secure software. This role offers high-impact work on mission-critical programs with opportunities to travel in the UK.

• Collaborate with back-end and front-end developers, designers, and client teams to deliver end-to-end features
• Contribute to design and problem-solving across the development lifecycle
• Build cloud-native, containerised applications using AWS Lambda, Spring Boot, NodeJS, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and ELK
• Maintain reliability and resilience using Site Reliability Engineering practices across multi-site deployments
• Explain technical trade-offs to clients and end users to inform product decisions
• Engage in continuous learning through workshops and knowledge sharing within the engineering community
• Go beyond basic duties by identifying opportunities to add value for clients
• Support flexible, agile working patterns in alignment with client needs

• Experience in software development with a clear grasp of fundamentals in Java, TypeScript/JavaScript, and/or Python
• Proven ability to work effectively in teams and in agile environments (Scrum & Kanban)
• Demonstrated capability to explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders
