We're looking for an experienced DevOps Consultant to join a high-profile UK Government programme, designing and delivering secure DevOps platforms within highly secure, air-gapped environments.

This is an opportunity to play a key role in shaping the DevOps capability that underpins critical national infrastructure, working with modern tooling and providing technical leadership across architecture, automation and platform assurance.

The Role

You’ll lead the design, implementation and ongoing assurance of secure DevOps tooling, ensuring solutions meet stringent security and accreditation standards while enabling efficient software delivery in disconnected environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Architect and implement secure DevOps platforms using GitLab, Jira, Confluence and Ansible
• Design integrated CI/CD solutions for air-gapped environments
• Develop secure software promotion, patching and update processes
• Define toolchain integration and automation strategies
• Champion Infrastructure as Code, automation and DevOps best practices
• Produce High-Level and Low-Level Designs (HLDs/LLDs), operational documentation and security artefacts
• Conduct technical design reviews, security assurance and compliance activities
• Support platform optimisation, troubleshooting and stakeholder engagement across secure customer sites

Essential Skills

• Active DV Clearance
• Proven experience as a DevOps Architect or Senior DevOps Engineer within secure or regulated environments
• Strong expertise with: GitLab (CI/CD, repositories, runners and security)
• Strong expertise with: Jira
• Strong expertise with: Confluence
• Strong expertise with: Ansible
• Strong expertise with: VMware technologies
• Experience designing and supporting DevOps platforms in offline/air-gapped environments
• Strong knowledge of Infrastructure as Code, configuration management and automation
• Experience producing HLDs, LLDs, SOPs, runbooks and security documentation
• Scripting experience with Bash, Python and Ansible YAML
• Knowledge of secure build and release management, access control and audit requirements
• Experience supporting security accreditation and assurance activities
