Overview
In this role you join The Athletic's Infrastructure team to build and scale internal tools and services that boost product availability and engineering productivity. You will implement infrastructure with Terraform, influence scaling, alerting and monitoring, and collaborate with multiple engineering teams to deliver a world-class sports app. You drive performance, reliability and ownership across the development lifecycle. This is a hands-on role in a fast-paced, mission-driven newsroom engineering environment.

- Triage live issues, patch while addressing root causes in future fixes.
- Validate quality through manual and automated testing.
- Own code throughout the lifecycle until it goes live, ensuring visibility and accountability.
- 2+ years of engineering experience
- Knowledge of Terraform and CI/CD tools
- Experience with AWS products: Lambda, Elastic Beanstalk, ECS, CloudFront, S3, IAM
- Experience with high availability websites
- Experience with Cloud CDN tools like Fastly and Cloudflare
