Digital Developer (Front End)

Overview

In this role you will build and maintain modern front-end applications using JavaScript and ReactJS. You’ll work within the CIO team, collaborating with UX/UI designers, backend developers and product managers to deliver compelling user experiences. You’ll operate in a hybrid setup from Bexhill or Leicester, contributing to our digital presence and customer engagement initiatives. The role combines development with quality, cross-functional collaboration, and continuous improvement to drive our digital-insurance agenda.

• Develop and modify software to standards with minimal supervision, applying best practices and maintainable code
• Conduct testing and debugging, document work including GUNIT coverage, participate in code reviews
• Collaborate in an Agile scrum environment, attend stand-ups and deliver on user stories
• Mentor junior team members and contribute to the Development Community of Practice
• Uphold customer-first principles, complete mandatory training and challenge non-aligned processes

• Hands-on experience in agile teams developing enterprise-level applications
• Strong proficiency in JavaScript and ReactJS (JSX, Virtual DOM, component lifecycle)
• Experience with React workflows (Redux/Flux) and Create React App
• Familiarity with RESTful APIs, Java/JVM languages, and SQL relational databases
• Exposure to SOAP, JSON, XML and object-oriented design beneficial
• Experience with GitHub for source control and a test-driven approach (TDD/BDD)
• Desirable: exposure to Guidewire Insurance Suite or other digital insurance products
