Overview

In this Infrastructure Specialist role, you will manage and improve the underpinning server, storage, virtualization, cloud, AD and network layers that support clinical and operational systems across Herefordshire and Worcestershire. You’ll work in a small, skilled Digital Services team, delivering resilient infrastructure and contributing to large-scale projects and digital modernization. The role blends hands-on technical delivery with proactive monitoring, incident ownership, and collaboration with cross-functional teams. Responsibilities
  • Provide 3rd line technical support across the server and infrastructure environment and own complex incidents
  • Proactively monitor services to maintain availability, performance and resilience
  • Manage infrastructure patching, vulnerability remediation, changes and major projects
  • Research, test, implement and document resilient solutions; identify and manage technical risks
  • Contribute to root cause investigations and cybersecurity improvements
  • Collaborate with Digital colleagues, project teams and suppliers to deliver effective solutions
  • Drive continuous service improvement across a complex, fast-paced environment
  • Participate in out-of-hours IT support on-call rota as required
Key requirements
  • Degree level education in an IT related subject or equivalent
  • Industry standard IT qualifications (CNE, MCP, MCSE, CompTIA or equivalent) or relevant experience
  • Evidence of continued professional development and specialist knowledge
  • Significant proven technical experience in a complex server environment
  • Proven experience of complex infrastructure support
  • Desirable: ITIL concepts knowledge; Server virtualization qualification; MCSE; CCNA
  • Curious and motivated
