Overview

In this role you will lead the Digital, Production & Venue Support (DPVS) network and systems at Guildhall School of Music & Drama, enabling high-quality recording, broadcast and AV environments. You will own day-to-day operations of specialist systems across venues and studios, shaping reliable workflows for performances and teaching. You will collaborate with engineers, academics and students to diagnose, document and improve complex infrastructure. This is a hands-on, impact-driven position at a world-class conservatoire with a strong emphasis on practical, production-grade technology.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee day-to-day operation of recording, broadcast and AV networks and systems
  • Maintain and develop a low-latency audio network (Dante Domain Manager) and NDI video distribution
  • Diagnose issues, document root causes, and implement resilient improvements
  • Collaborate with Recording & AV engineers, venue teams, academic departments and IT colleagues
  • Influence the future of the infrastructure and production workflows
  • Support concerts, theatre productions, recordings, broadcasts and teaching activities
  • Liaise with manufacturers, integrators and industry peers to stay aligned with professional practice
  • Manage competing priorities in a live-performance environment
  • Provide clear explanations of complex tech to users including students
  • Take ownership of complex systems and drive continuous improvement
Key requirements
  • Substantial experience with professional audio, video or broadcast systems
  • Strong understanding of IP networking in a media environment
  • Experience with Dante and NDI technologies
  • Knowledge of recording studios, production workflows and integrated AV systems
  • Awareness of ST 2110 and media-over-IP developments is welcome
  • Networking qualification (e.g., CCNA) useful, but not essential with equivalent experience
  • Comfortable working with young people
  • Ability to explain complex technology clearly and work collaboratively
