Overview

In this role, you drive the API-first distribution framework for CME Group’s external data-analytics APIs. You serve as the technical bridge between customers and internal APIs, crafting SDKs and delivery mechanisms to simplify market data consumption. You translate customer feedback into actionable product requirements and solve integration challenges to enable a seamless developer experience. You operate at the intersection of product, engineering, and customer enablement to elevate CME Group’s data as an insights engine.

Responsibilities
  • Build and maintain a high-performance Python SDK to deliver quick insights (one-line-to-insight)
  • Develop and release open-source SDKs in Python, C++, and other languages
  • Create and maintain a public schema registry (Protobuf/JSON/Avro) for client generation
  • Lead technical documentation, tutorials, and reference docs to define API behavior
  • Agree on unified authentication and credential strategies with cloud teams
  • Define and enforce data schema consistency across services and latency tiers
  • Oversee API lifecycle tooling (GitHub governance, CI/CD, PyPi publishing)
  • Conduct technical audits of existing APIs to reduce fragmentation and improve UX
  • Collaborate with product, engineering, and customers to extend data offerings to multi-cloud environments
  • Support downstream distribution technologies (Bobsled, SFTP, Curl, email) and telemetry to measure product value
  • Shape activation-focused strategy across developer experience, data plane, and control plane
Key requirements
  • strong Python expertise
  • experience with cloud-native SDKs and APIs
  • familiarity with schema registries (Protobuf/Avro/JSON)
  • proficiency in API design and developer experience
  • experience with GitHub, CI/CD, and package publishing (PyPi)
  • knowledge of authentication and telemetry in distributed systems
  • ability to interface with customers and translate feedback into requirements
  • background in capital markets or data distribution (preferred)
