In this DVA Engineer role, you shape early-stage vehicle concepts by applying dimensional variation analysis to influence styling, design, and manufacturing directions. You will collaborate across functions to define dimensional controls and gauge targets, using tolerance tools to validate concept viability. Your work informs manufacturing readiness, build strategies, and fixture design, ensuring alignment with quality and BS:8888 standards. This is a fast-paced, cross-disciplinary position at the front end of product development with impact on vehicle integrity and production efficiency.

- Apply 3D Design Variation Analysis (DVA) to evaluate concepts and validate vehicle concept effectiveness
- Sign off Engineering Releases (ER) for all components of a new model
- Support definition of vehicle level gap and flush targets with Perceived Quality
- Develop a complete dimensional control concept across functions for major vehicle systems
- Build tolerance simulation models (3DCS) and report concept capability versus targets
- Participate in design reviews to address lessons learned and optimize design solutions
- Record validated concerns in McLaren fault management system
- Understand component manufacturing processes and tooling philosophies
- Contribute to manufacturing assembly sequence and concept decisions
- Ensure FT&A/GD&T in released designs aligns with BS:8888 and supports downstream processes
- Support datum strategy concepts using GD&T for assembly jigs, fixtures, and measurement plans
- Manage internal training guides and standards for 3DCS model creation
- Degree in mechanical/automotive engineering or equivalent (2:1 or above)
- CATIA V5
- GD&T application to BS8888
- 8D or PPS problem solving
- Strong analytical and methodical approach
- Self-starter with initiative
- New product development experience in Automotive
- 3DCS tolerance analysis software or similar
- Knowledge of location strategies for components/assemblies across materials and processes
- Basic understanding of jig and fixture concepts
- Good problem-solving ability
- Basic understanding of SPC, statistics and process capabilities
- Ability to learn and develop tolerance analysis skills
- Ability to work under pressure with calm, clear thinking and decisive authority
