EC&I Systems Engineer

In this EC&I Systems Engineer role, you own control and automation work packages from concept to commissioning across process industries. You’ll collaborate with engineering teams and clients, managing packages and delivering safe, compliant systems. The position combines hands-on PLC/DCS work with project lifecycle ownership, from requirements to start-up. - Own control and automation work packages from design to FAT, SAT and site commissioning
- Create and maintain engineering documentation (URS, FDS/SDS, Cause & Effect, I/O lists, P&ID marks, cable schedules, loop diagrams, test docs)
- Configure/program PLC, DCS and SCADA/HMI systems (Siemens PCS 7, TIA Portal, Rockwell/Allen-Bradley, WinCC, Aveva or iFIX)
- Integrate systems and define interfaces across electrical, instrumentation and IT/OT networks
- Plan FAT/SAT, commissioning, loop checks and plant start-up
- Lead fault-finding, optimisation and troubleshooting on-site
- Apply IEC 61511/61508 and ATEX/DSEAR functional safety standards
- Contribute to HAZOP/LOPA and engineering reviews
- Estimate/plan tasks, report progress, support change control
- Contribute technical input to proposals and customer discussions
- Collaborate with colleagues and clients while maintaining safety, quality and documentation standards
- Degree or equivalent experience in EC&I, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Control & Automation or related discipline
- Approximately 5-10+ years' experience in control systems, automation or EC&I engineering
- Experience in process industries (chemical, petrochemical, energy, pharmaceutical, food or similar)
- Hands-on experience with at least one major PLC/DCS platform (ideally Siemens or Rockwell)
- Strong understanding of EC&I deliverables and full project lifecycle
- Experience with commissioning, FAT/SAT and start-up in live plant environments
- Working knowledge of relevant engineering and safety standards
- Ability to work independently and in small teams
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel UK sites
