E.H. Technical Applications Manager – Midstream

Overview

In this role you act as the key technical liaison between customers and the Midstream engineering organization to ensure clear requirements and executable orders. You will clarify specifications, negotiate practical solutions, and drive efficient project execution across quotation, order entry, and contract review. You’ll balance customer needs with NOV standards and manufacturing capabilities to deliver clean, executable orders. Your work directly supports regional customers, EPCs, and internal teams to reduce rework and accelerate project delivery.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as primary technical interface during quotation, contract review, and order entry
  • Identify clarifications, commercial exceptions, and engineering risks before order release
  • Coordinate with customers, EPCs, and Sales to obtain necessary technical clarifications and approvals
  • Negotiate alternatives that balance customer requirements with engineering standards, capabilities, and schedules
  • Resolve technical questions and minimize post-order clarification work
  • Ensure orders are complete and aligned before release to Engineering
  • Lead internal technical reviews to validate practicality, execution feasibility, and profitability
  • Assess risks and mitigation strategies during quotation and contract review
  • Support Sales during customer meetings and technical clarifications as regional technical authority
  • Review and approve customer deviations and clarification logs with Engineering and Product Management
  • Monitor feedback to drive standardization and reduce engineering workload
  • Develop regional application guidelines and standard technical responses
  • Provide technical training to Sales, Applications, and Commercial teams
  • Ensure compliance with codes, quality systems, and HSE policies
  • Travel across the Eastern Hemisphere to support customers and facilities

Key requirements
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in engineered-to-order products within the oil and gas industry
  • Experience with pressure-containing equipment, pipeline products, or quick opening closures throughout lifecycle
  • Extensive knowledge of Midstream product applications, customer specs, manufacturing processes, and field operations
  • Direct experience with customers, EPCs, Sales, and Engineering to resolve technical issues and develop practical solutions
  • Strong manufacturing methods knowledge (machining, welding, assembly, hydrostatic testing, inspection)
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical specs, contracts, and customer requirements
