Overview

In this role you will help build a software platform that bridges automotive hardware with Wayve’s Driving Model. You’ll create abstractions and APIs to enable deployment across diverse platforms with minimal customization. Your work will improve the efficiency, maintainability, and scalability of embedded systems underpinning our autonomous vehicles. You will collaborate across teams and partners to ensure a robust, high-quality AV stack, tackling hard integration challenges. Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and maintain embedded software, SDKs, APIs, and hardware abstraction layers for autonomous driving across automotive platforms
  • Integrate and adapt AV functions including inference, navigation, control, localisation, and vehicle interfaces
  • Work across Linux and QNX-based systems with minimal platform-specific customization
  • Debug, troubleshoot, and improve software and system performance for reliability, scalability across fleets
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, hardware vendors, and automotive partners to align requirements and integration with the AV stack
  • Participate in architecture reviews, testing, code reviews, documentation, and automotive software quality processes
Key requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field
  • Proven embedded software development experience in automotive, autonomous driving, or robotics
  • Proficiency in C++ for high-performance systems
  • Hands-on experience with Linux and QNX embedded operating systems
  • Strong understanding of middleware architectures and IPC mechanisms
  • Proficiency in profiling and tracing tools to diagnose bottlenecks
  • Familiarity with hardware abstraction layers (HAL) and device driver development
  • Strong debugging skills and attention to detail in complex systems
