Overview
As an Embedded Engineer in our expanding R&D function, you own firmware development for downhole and surface tools from concept to field deployment. You collaborate closely with electronics and mechanical teams to influence design decisions early, not just code to a spec. You focus on low power, safe degradation of faults, and leveraging an established toolchain. The role offers ownership, mentoring, and opportunities to grow into broader firmware architecture responsibilities.
Pay / Benefits- Salary up to £70,000
- Hybrid work (Aberdeen or Edinburgh, 4 days in office, 1 day remote)

- Prioritise low power consumption and safe failure modes in embedded systems
- Leverage established toolchains and avoid building from scratch where possible
- Take ownership of projects with mentoring support and potential for broader responsibilities
- Strong experience writing embedded C
- Solid understanding of challenges in coding for microcontrollers
- Working knowledge of digital electronics
- Familiarity with software design principles
- Strong mathematical ability with experience designing custom algorithms
