Develop embedded firmware with C and Python at OPIsystems Inc. in Calgary, Alberta, working in a hybrid environment on connected agricultural systems.

This experienced developer supports the BLUE® platform before contributing to next-generation EPIQ® products. The work spans embedded Linux, MQTT, JSON, Protocol Buffers, and distributed IoT systems. You will troubleshoot field issues, modernize code, and develop reliable product features.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Investigate firmware defects and escalated field-reported issues
  • Refactor C and Python codebases
  • Design and implement new product features
  • Collaborate with QA to validate fixes
  • Support Synapse wireless communications

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a relevant discipline
  • Five or more years of embedded firmware development
  • Strong proficiency in C, Python, and Linux
  • Experience with MQTT-based IoT systems and networking protocols
  • Experience using Git, GitHub, and Jira
