Embedded Firmware Engineer

Overview

In this role you will shape firmware for Octopus’ connected devices within a cross-functional hardware team, delivering robust, energy-efficient IoT software. You’ll own firmware features from requirements through deployment, collaborating with platform and app teams to resolve issues and ship improvements. The position blends hands-on development with hardware-aware debugging, emphasizing secure, maintainable code. • Write structured, efficient firmware for connected devices
• Own IoT features within a cross-functional team
• Manage development tickets with hardware and software groups

• Proficiency in C for real-time on constrained MCUs
• Experience with RTOS (e.g., FreeRTOS)
• Scripting skills (Python, Bash) and Git
• Ability to read schematics and data sheets
• Knowledge of serial protocols (SPI, I2C, UART, RS232, Modbus) and networking (MAC, IP, TCP, TLS, DHCP)
• IoT security basics (secure boot, encrypted flash, TLS, PKI)
• Experience with board bring-up and debugging tools (JTAG/SWD, oscilloscopes)
• B.S. in Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, or related field
