In this role you will shape the firmware that powers Octopus’ connected devices, working within a cross-functional hardware team to deliver energy-saving smart home products. You’ll own IoT features from spec to deployment, collaborating with platform and app teams, and tackling bugs and performance improvements. The position offers flexible, mostly remote work with occasional travel, and a culture that prioritizes autonomy and real impact. This is a hands-on opportunity to influence next‑gen Wi‑Fi devices and their security and reliability.

- Write structured, efficient firmware for connected devices
- Own IoT product features and ensure modular, maintainable code
- Manage tickets and coordinate with hardware/software teams

- Proficiency in C for RTOS on constrained MCUs with vendor APIs
- Hands-on RTOS experience (FreeRTOS)
- Scripting with Python or Bash; Git version control
- Ability to read schematics and data sheets for debugging
- Experience with SPI, I2C, UART, RS232, Modbus; networking (MAC/IP/TCP/TLS/DHCP) basics
- IoT security know-how (secure boot, encrypted flash, TLS, PKC)
- Board bring-up, design validation, debugging (JTAG/SWD), test equipment
- B.S. in Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, or related field
- Cross-functional collaboration

- ESP32 and ESP-IDF familiarity
- Cloud IoT experience (e.g., AWS IoT)
- OTA firmware updates in automated builds
