Embedded Software Developer Intern

Build embedded software experience at Ciena through coding assignments, testing, and real-time systems work during an eight to twelve month Winter 2027 term.

This Software Developer Intern opportunity supports hands-on engineering work within an embedded software team. You will contribute to software powering flagship networking products while learning from experienced engineering professionals. Agile collaboration, code reviews, troubleshooting, and modern workflows shape the experience.

Key Responsibilities:

• Enhance embedded platform and application software through coding assignments
• Create and execute tests validating new capabilities
• Collaborate with team members using Agile practices
• Participate in code reviews and apply feedback
• Troubleshoot software issues and learn modern development workflows

Requirements:

• Actively enrolled in Engineering or Computer Science degree program
• Foundational knowledge of coding concepts and programming structures
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively
• Curiosity about new technologies and tools
• Willingness to embrace AI tools throughout software design
