Locums - Pasadena, Texas Emergency Medicine Physician Opportunity

Clinical Role

RecruitWell is seeking a Board-Certified Emergency Medicine physician for an ongoing locums opportunity in Pasadena, Texas. Coverage includes both a main Emergency Department and a Freestanding Emergency Department, with a moderate-to-high acuity patient population and broad procedural responsibilities.

Assignment Details

• Ongoing need

• Emergency Medicine coverage

• Main Emergency Department and Freestanding Emergency Department coverage

• Approximately 30 Emergency Department treatment spaces

• Urban, middle-class patient population

• Moderate-to-high acuity and complex pathology

Schedule & Coverage

Main Emergency Department Shifts

• 7:00 am-5:00 pm

• 11:00 am-9:00 pm

• 5:00 pm-3:00 am

• 9:00 pm-7:00 am

Freestanding Emergency Department Shifts

• 7:00 am-7:00 pm

• 7:00 pm-7:00 am

Practice Setting & Case Mix

• Main ED daily census: Approximately 115 patients

• FSED daily census: Approximately 70 patients

• No low-acuity patients seen by physicians in the Main ED

• Main ED acuity: Moderate to high

• Complex Emergency Medicine pathology

• Approximately 25% of all ED patients are admitted annually

• Approximately 40% of patients seen by physicians in the Main ED are admitted

• Approximately 5% admission rate at the FSED

Clinical Details & Responsibilities

• Evaluate and manage Emergency Medicine patients across a broad range of acuity

• Provide care in both main ED and FSED settings

• Manage moderate-to-high acuity and complex Emergency Medicine cases

• Perform standard Emergency Medicine procedures

• Coordinate admissions and disposition as clinically appropriate

Procedures & Skills

Required procedural proficiency includes:

• Intubation

• Central line placement

• Chest tube placement

• Conscious sedation

• Fracture reduction

• Laceration repair

• Other standard Emergency Medicine procedures

Support & Technology

• Main ED staffing:

  • 4 physicians per day

  • 2 APPs per day

• FSED staffing:

  • 2 physicians per day

  • 2 APPs per day

• Additional support includes:

  • Nurses

  • Technicians

  • Paramedics

Requirements & Credentialing

• Board Certified by ABEM required

• Active Texas medical license required
