Aspire Medical Staffing is in search of an experienced Medical Director to support Bayne-Jones Army Community Hospital at Fort Polk, Louisiana

This is a unique opportunity for an experienced Emergency Medicine physician to provide clinical leadership and medical oversight for a 24/7 ground ambulance EMS program supporting Fort Polk s operational areas.

Qualifications:
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Degree/Education: Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.). Education: Graduation from a medical school in the United States, Canada, or approved by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education of the American Medical Association (AMA), graduation from a college of osteopathy approved by the American Osteopathic Association (AOA), or graduation from a medical school with evidence of Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) certification.
  • Internship/Residency/Fellowship: Completion of an accredited residency approved by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) in emergency medicine.
  • Experience: One year in the last two years as a board eligible or board-certified emergency medicine physician.
  • Certifications: BLS, ACLS, and PALS. Board eligible/ board certified in emergency medicine. Those candidates that are board eligible must be certified within one year of hire. Certifications issued by boards that are members of the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) or the AOA Bureau of Osteopathic Specialists.
  • Licensure: Current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice medicine.

Duties:
  • Serve as patient advocate in the EMS system.
  • Set and ensure compliance with patient care standards including 911 communications standards and medical protocols.
  • Develop and implement the protocols and standing orders under which the out-of-hospital care clinician functions.
  • Develop and implement the process for the provision of all aspects of Medical Oversight.
  • Ensure the appropriateness of initial qualifications of out-of-hospital clinicians involved in patient care and dispatch.
  • Ensure the qualifications of out-of-hospital clinicians involved in patient care and dispatch are maintained on an ongoing basis through education, testing, and credentialing as the local/state authorities have determined.
  • Develop and implement an effective continuous quality improvement program that targets both system and patient care improvement.
  • Has authority to restrict, suspend, or terminate patient care activities of clinicians who deviate from and/or fail to meet established standards.
  • Promote and disseminate EMS research and its findings.
  • Maintain liaison with the medical community including, but not limited to, hospitals, emergency departments, physicians, out-of-hospital clinicians, and nurses.
  • Interact with regional, state, and local EMS authorities to ensure that standards, needs, and requirements are met, and resource utilization is optimized.
  • Promulgate public education and information on the prevention of emergencies.
  • Maintain knowledge levels appropriate for an Installation Medical Director through continued education.
  • The Contract Medical Director shall not give medical direction or provide oversight to a government employee or personnel outside this contract within the Fort Polk and Vernon Parrish operational boundaries.
