Engineering Specialist - Software Assurance

In this role you will provide independent software assurance across the full development lifecycle to ensure quality, safety, security and regulatory compliance. You will collaborate with systems engineers, suppliers and stakeholders to mitigate risks and promote best practices, delivering robust software for critical defence capabilities. You will act as the Software Assurance SME for the project and help integrate software into naval platforms. • Provide independent software assurance across all software elements of the delivered platform
• Assure software supplied by vendors and partners for contractual, regulatory, and project compliance
• Act as Software Assurance Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the project
• Support engineering activities related to software as required
• Ensure compliance with organisational, customer, regulatory, safety, security, and industry standards

• Strong understanding of software engineering principles, lifecycle and assurance practices
• Knowledge of safety-critical and secure software in complex, regulated environments (defence preferred)
• Familiarity with ISO 12207, MIL-STD-882E and related regulatory frameworks (config mgmt, export control, licensing, IP)
• Understanding of data structures, information architectures and software development toolchains
• Degree-qualified in a relevant subject; Chartered Engineer or equivalent
