Overview
As Engineering Technical Lead, you will raise the capability of the squad by mentoring engineers and driving delivery through strong technical leadership. You’ll set the technical direction, shape architecture, and ensure high-quality production code. You’ll help the team break down work, remove blockers, and deliver consistently in an agile, collaborative environment. This role sits at the heart of Softcat’s Internal Technology evolution, supporting a broader technology strategy and enabling growth. You’ll work with cross-functional teams to raise standards and engineering excellence while shaping a modern tech stack.

- Lead from the codebase: contribute high-quality production code and refactor when needed
- Set technical direction through architectural decisions, patterns, and pragmatic trade-offs
- Mentor engineers via pairing, code reviews, and design discussions focused on engineering excellence
- Help the team break down work, remove blockers, and deliver consistently
- 7+ years of hands-on software development experience at Senior Engineer or Technical Lead level
- Strong commercial experience with .NET Core, C#, and SQL
- Proven ability to design and reason about distributed systems and modern application architectures
- Comfortable working in Agile / squad-based environments, influencing delivery without formal authority
- Solid experience with cloud platforms (Azure and/or AWS) and Git
