Enterprise Architect

As Enterprise Architect, you will shape the FT’s technology direction by defining and sustaining the long-term architecture strategy across the Technology organisation. You’ll align platforms, investments, and capabilities with the company’s objectives, partnering with CTO and senior leaders to balance innovation with reliability and cost. You’ll maintain a strategic, company-wide view of the technology estate, driving simplification and modernisation. You will influence decision-making and foster a culture of collaboration, transparency, and continuous improvement across teams.

• Develop and maintain the enterprise technology strategy, target-state architecture and roadmaps aligned to long-term objectives
• Maintain a company-wide perspective on platforms, services and capabilities and evaluate initiatives against architecture principles and goals
• Identify opportunities to simplify and modernise the technology estate, reducing debt and unnecessary cost
• Define and uphold enterprise architecture principles, standards, and governance processes; chair architecture review forums
• Collaborate with Technology and Product leaders to translate business priorities into technology roadmaps and operating model improvements
• Provide architectural direction for major transformation projects across platforms and domains
• Oversee technology lifecycles, platform strategy, build-vs-buy decisions and major suppliers with clear adoption/retirement plans
• Ensure awareness of risks, dependencies, and trade-offs within the technology portfolio
• Act as a trusted advisor to the CTO and Technology SLT on strategy, architecture, and investment decisions
• Build relationships across Product, Engineering and Data to align priorities and strategic direction
• Promote long-term thinking while balancing delivery realities and operational needs
• Foster a culture of simplicity, collaboration, transparency and continuous improvement

• Significant experience in Enterprise Architecture or equivalent senior architecture role in a complex digital organisation
• Track record of developing enterprise technology strategies, target-state architectures and transformation roadmaps
• Experience influencing technology decisions across multiple teams without direct authority
• Experience balancing strategic objectives with delivery and operational realities in a technology portfolio
• Strong understanding of cloud platforms, SaaS ecosystems, enterprise integration patterns and modern software delivery practices
• Ability to evaluate technology investments from technical and business perspectives
• Strong communication skills with ability to simplify complex concepts for technical and non-technical audiences
