Overview

As Enterprise Architect (Network & Communications), you will define and govern the university’s network and unified communications architecture to underpin teaching, research, and services. You’ll develop target-state architectures and multi-year roadmaps across on-premises, cloud, and hybrid environments, ensuring security, resilience, and alignment with institutional priorities. You will advise senior stakeholders, influence technology investments, and assure architectural integrity across major transformations. Responsibilities
  • Define and govern the network and unified communications architecture
  • Develop target-state architectures and multi-year technology roadmaps (SD-WAN, Zero Trust, VoIP, telephony, mobile connectivity, cloud networking)
  • Provide trusted advisory input to senior stakeholders and influence strategic investments
  • Ensure architectural integrity of major transformation programmes
  • Collaborate with technical teams, suppliers and business stakeholders to deliver secure connectivity solutions
  • Contribute to architecture governance, technology lifecycle management, and procurement activities
  • Drive continuous improvement of architecture practices
Key requirements
  • Experience leading enterprise-scale network design and unified communications initiatives
  • Expert knowledge of routing and switching, hybrid cloud networking, and secure connectivity design
  • Proven ability to lead complex architectural initiatives in large organisations
  • Degree level education or equivalent professional experience
  • Certifications such as TOGAF, CCDE, CCIE, CISSP, or AWS/Azure Solutions Architect desirable
