ABOUT THE ROLE

Reporting to the ITS Projects Manager or designate within Information Technology Services, the Enterprise Cloud Architect serves as the cloud domain architect within the Enterprise Architecture function. The role is responsible for developing and maintaining cloud architecture standards, reference architectures, and governance practices that support secure, scalable, reliable, and cost-effective cloud and hybrid cloud solutions. Working collaboratively with Enterprise Architecture, Infrastructure, Cybersecurity, Application, Data and business stakeholders, the position provides architectural leadership, design authority, and expert guidance to ensure cloud solutions align with enterprise architecture principles, technology strategies, and business objectives.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

  • Collaborates/works with partners and follows the corporate strategic leadership, planning and direction related to this function to ensure alignment with corporate objectives and direction.
  • Develops and maintains cloud architecture frameworks, standards, reference architectures, and design patterns that support secure, scalable, reliable, resilient, and cost-effective cloud and hybrid cloud environments aligned with Enterprise Architecture principles, business objectives, technology strategies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Provides cloud architecture leadership and design authority for cloud-related initiatives by reviewing proposed solutions, making recommendations, and ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture standards, cybersecurity requirements, governance processes, and target-state architectures.
  • Defines and maintains current-state and target-state cloud platform architectures, including cloud tenancy models, subscription design, environment segmentation, identity and access management, networking, security, resiliency, disaster recovery, and hybrid integration patterns.
  • Translates business and technical requirements into standardized, reusable architecture patterns, reference designs, and solution components that support consistent and efficient delivery of cloud services across the organization.
  • Contributes to enterprise architecture planning, technology roadmaps, and strategic initiatives by providing expertise on cloud technologies, cloud adoption strategies, modernization opportunities, and emerging industry trends.
  • Participates in architecture governance activities, including architecture reviews, architecture boards, project assurance activities, and the development of architectural artifacts, standards, guidelines, and decision records.
  • Collaborates with Enterprise Architecture, Cloud Engineering, Infrastructure, Cybersecurity, Application, Data, and business stakeholders to ensure cloud solutions are integrated with broader enterprise architecture and support end-to-end business and technology outcomes.
  • Provides technical leadership, guidance, and consultation to project teams and stakeholders on cloud architecture principles, best practices, cloud migration strategies, and solution design options.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • Successful completion of a University degree in Computer Science/Engineering, Information Technology or a related discipline, or an approved equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum five (5) years of progressive experience in cloud and infrastructure technologies, including three (3) or more years in architecture, principal engineering, or senior technical design role.
  • TOGAF Certification, and past IT certification similar or equivalent to the following: Microsoft Certified Azure Solutions Architect Expert or equivalent cloud certification, Cloud security or infrastructure certifications (e.g., CISSP, CCSP, Azure Security Engineer)
  • Demonstrated expertise in Microsoft Azure or equivalent cloud architecture, including landing zones, identity and access management, networking, security controls, governance, resiliency, and disaster recovery.
  • Strong understanding of ITIL-aligned service delivery, operational readiness, and support of 24/7 mission-critical environments.
  • Proven experience applying comprehensive risk management frameworks and architectural governance to proactively identify technical debt, security vulnerabilities, and compliance gaps.
  • Strong understanding of modern integration patterns, API management, and hybrid cloud deployment models, ensuring secure and seamless connectivity between legacy on-premises systems and cloud-native environments.
  • Demonstrated expertise in designing and executing enterprise-scale cloud migration strategies (e.g., re-platforming, refactoring), ensuring minimal disruption and strong alignment with long-term target-state architectures.
  • Strong technical leadership skills, with the ability to guide delivery teams and effectively influence both technical and non-technical parties.
  • Proven experience developing architecture artifacts, standards, and conducting design reviews using structured architecture methodologies (e.g., TOGAF or equivalent).
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, analytical, and influencing skills, with the ability to work effectively across technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Previous experience working within an Enterprise Architecture framework.
  • Demonstrated commitment to accessibility, diversity, equity, and inclusion, and alignment with Region’s leadership competencies.
