Environmental Test Technical Specialist

In this role you lead environmental test programmes at QinetiQ’s Shoeburyness facility, applying vibration, shock, climatic and radiography testing to defence munitions. You’ll supervise and mentor a team of engineers, ensuring tests meet customer requirements, quality standards and safety rules. You’ll review data, produce robust reports, and drive improvements to testing capabilities and safety performance. • Lead environmental test programmes ensuring compliance with customer requirements, quality standards and safety legislation
• Design, plan and execute complex environmental trials with technical direction for team members
• Review documentation, analyse test data and produce high-quality reports with QA checks
• Collaborate with customers and internal stakeholders, providing progress updates and recovery plans
• Drive continuous improvement to testing capabilities, efficiency, and safety
• Develop, train and mentor team members and promote safety culture

• Proven track record delivering complex engineering projects with technical leadership
• Rigorous approach to compliance, safety and best practice
• Strong engineering background with knowledge of structural behaviour, analysis and environmental testing principles
