Environmental Test Technical Specialist

In this role you will lead environmental test programmes for defence systems, applying vibration, shock, climatic, and radiography tests to ensure safety and suitability for service. You’ll work with senior engineers, guiding test activities, analysing results, and delivering robust reports. Collaboration with customers and stakeholders is key, as you drive improvements in testing capability, safety, and efficiency. This position offers a hands-on leadership role at a high‑profile environment testing facility with impact on mission-critical equipment.

• Lead environmental test programmes ensuring compliance with customer requirements, quality standards, and safety legislation
• Plan and execute complex environmental trials with technical direction for team
• Review documentation, analyse test data, and produce high-quality QA-checked reports
• Collaborate with customers and internal stakeholders, providing progress updates and recovery plans
• Drive continuous improvement to testing capabilities, efficiency, and safety
• Develop, train and mentor team members, promoting knowledge sharing and a strong safety culture

• Proven technical leadership and accountability on complex engineering projects
• Rigorous approach to compliance, safety, and best practices in test/engineering environments
• Engineering background with knowledge of structural behaviour, analysis and environmental testing principles
• Effective collaboration with cross-functional teams to achieve objectives
• Experience using instrumentation, data analysis tools and IT systems to support testing and decision-making
