Environments and Release Manager

In this role you will own NHBC’s environments (development, test, staging, production) and lead end-to-end release management to deliver changes in a controlled, secure, and repeatable way. You will drive deployment automation, CI/CD improvements, and service stability across Salesforce and Oracle, working with DevOps, development and delivery teams. You’ll shape our environment and release practices as the function grows, balancing risk with speed and reliability. This is a hands-on leadership role with opportunities to mentor as the team scales.

- Own and manage development, test, staging and production environments across a complex application estate (Salesforce and Oracle)
- Lead end-to-end release management ensuring planned, controlled and safe delivery
- Develop and improve release management standards, processes, and ways of working
- Manage release calendar, dependencies, conflicts and risks to protect service stability
- Own and improve CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation to speed, quality and repeatability
- Collaborate with DevOps and development teams on deployment, provisioning and automation
- Chair release readiness and go/no-go reviews and ensure change, release and incident processes are followed
- Provide technical guidance, progress updates and stakeholder communication across delivery teams
- As the team grows, assume line management, coaching, mentoring and performance development
- Strong experience in release and environment management across multi-platform estates
- Hands-on Salesforce releases experience (metadata, sandboxes, environment promotion, tooling)
- Experience with Oracle and web-based environments across development, test, staging and production
- Solid Git, GitHub and GitHub Actions experience for designing/managing CI/CD pipelines
- Experience with configuration management, deployment control and environment promotion
- Understanding of change, release and incident management (ITIL-aligned preferred)
- Strong troubleshooting/analytical skills with attention to release risk and service stability
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management across technical and delivery teams
- Natural leader with motivation, relationship-building, and passion for technology and continuous improvement
