eTrading Platform Product Owner

Overview

In this role you lead and develop the Financial Markets UK IT area within the Global FMGT tribe, ensuring stable, secure services for trading, risk and front-office users. You will shape IT strategy, governance, and risk culture while partnering with cross-functional squads, vendors, and stakeholders. You drive continuous improvement, budget oversight, and staffing, delivering a safe, compliant, and high-performing IT organization that supports eTrading and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities
  • Build and sustain relationships with traders, risk, and IT stakeholders
  • Provide platform support to trading teams to maintain stability and availability targets
  • Lead project testing across FMGT squads and align with business goals
  • Guide and mentor chapters and squads, focusing on stability, reliability, and user experience
  • Contribute to the IT strategy and IT landscape for the area
  • Negotiate and monitor SLAs for system stability and support
  • Lead root cause analysis of major incidents and drive timely resolutions
  • Drive continuous improvement to streamline workflows and reduce inefficiencies
  • Maintain and deliver a strategic technical roadmap for eTrading applications
  • Plan and manage budget and resources for the IT Area, coordinating with peers
  • Sourcing and staffing of IT Area, balancing internal and partner resources
  • Promote IT risk management and custodianship across assets in scope
  • Champion adoption of ING One Agile Way of Working and IT maturity
Key requirements
  • Senior leader with proven Agile project lifecycle experience and focus on service quality
  • Experience in IT risk management
  • Understanding of Financial Services domain
  • Strong initiative-taking, collaboration, and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to set vision, manage conflict, and motivate engineers
  • Hands-on experience with backlog management tooling (Azure DevOps) and CICD tooling
  • Good English communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to work in a diverse, multicultural environment
  • Deep understanding of IT infrastructure and trading/risk management systems
  • Experience with staffing and sourcing strategy
