Field Applications Engineer – EMEA - Edinburgh

We’re working with a growing technology business that is looking to add a Field Applications Engineer to its team. This is a highly technical, customer-facing role where you’ll work closely with customers across the UK and EMEA, helping them get the most from specialist network emulation, timing and synchronisation technology.

The role - Field Applications Engineer – EMEA – Edinburgh

You’ll act as a technical point of contact for customers, supporting them both remotely and on-site. The role combines engineering knowledge with customer interaction, so you’ll need to be comfortable explaining technical concepts, troubleshooting issues and working independently at customer locations.

There will be regular travel, including solo visits to customer sites, so confidence, communication skills and a willingness to travel are important.

Key responsibilities - Field Applications Engineer – EMEA – Edinburgh

• Provide technical support and applications assistance to customers
• Attend customer sites across the UK and EMEA, often independently
• Support customers with installation, configuration and troubleshooting
• Understand customer requirements and provide appropriate technical solutions
• Work closely with Sales, R&D and Product Management teams
• Deliver technical demonstrations and presentations
• Help customers understand and get the best value from the technology
• Feed customer requirements and technical issues back into internal teams
• Build strong, long-term relationships with customers
• Support post-sales activities and customer deployments

What we’re looking for - Field Applications Engineer – EMEA – Edinburgh

We’re particularly interested in engineers with strong customer-facing experience and a background in networking or related technologies.

You could come from a range of backgrounds, but ideally you’ll have:

• Around 3–10 years’ engineering experience
• Previous customer-facing / field engineering / applications experience
• A background in networking, network infrastructure or network technologies
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Confidence working directly with customers
• The ability to travel independently to customer sites
• A strong technical foundation and willingness to learn specialist timing and synchronisation technology

Experience with timing and synchronisation, PTP, NTP, GNSS/GPS, IEEE standards or network emulation would be useful, but training will be provided.

The role can be based from either Belfast or Linlithgow , with access to the office required around two days per week.

There will be up to 50% travel across the UK and EMEA, depending on customer requirements.
