Overview

In this entry-level engineering role you provide first-line remote and on-site technical support to clients, solving incidents to meet SLAs. You work with client IT environments, carriers, and teams to diagnose and fix faults, install and test cabling, and keep infrastructure operational. You participate in after-hours duties and dispatch coordination to ensure service continuity. You will help drive proactive problem identification and deliver reliable field engineering support that aligns with the company mission.

Responsibilities
  • Install and test fibre and copper cabling at data centres, using existing structured cabling infrastructure
  • Attend fault calls on network devices at customer sites and coordinate with remote teams to repair or replace devices
  • Fulfil admin duties to receive dispatch requests and coordinate in-country dispatching of engineers/parts
  • Ensure client infrastructure and software are configured, installed, tested, and operational
  • Log incidents promptly with detailed information and identify root causes
  • Liaise with client IT, carriers, and colleagues to expedite diagnosis and resolution
  • Investigate first-line support calls per knowledge articles to identify root causes
  • Respond to alerts and escalate to L2 Field Engineer when needed
  • Update incidents with progress and resolution details in the platform
  • Apply tooling to track, log, report on, and correct configuration items and changes
  • Investigate systemic problems and assist with remedies and preventative measures
  • Provide first-line remote and on-site technical support and field engineering services to clients
  • Report and escalate issues to third-party vendors when necessary
  • Follow handover procedures for shift changes to ensure service continuity
  • Participate in rotas for out-of-hours coverage for engineering and parts dispatching
Key requirements
  • Installation and testing of cabling between devices at customer data centres (fibre and copper)
  • Experience attending fault calls and resolving issues with remote teams or by device replacement
  • Admin duties for dispatch requests and in-country dispatching of engineers/parts
  • Ensuring infrastructure and software are configured and operational per client requirements
  • Proactive problem logging and detailed incident documentation
  • Stakeholder liaison with client IT environments, carriers, and colleagues
  • Investigating first-line support calls to identify root causes using knowledge articles
  • Responding to alerts and escalating when resolution is not possible within timeframes
  • Updating incidents with progress/resolution details on the chosen platform
  • Knowledge application for configuration tracking and change management
  • Investigation of problems in systems, processes, and services with remedies and preventive measures
  • First-line remote and onsite support and field engineering delivery
  • Escalation to 3rd party vendors when required
