Finance Manager | St Austell, Cornwall | £60,000 to £67,000 + bonus

Want a finance role where you own the numbers, not just process them?

Our client is a respected independent housebuilder in Cornwall. They are looking for a Finance Manager to run the day-to-day finance function, lead a small team, and work closely with the Finance Director and Managing Director.

This is a genuinely autonomous role. Your team of two handles most of the monthly processing, so your focus is ownership: making sure the numbers are right, challenging the business on cash and budgets, and solving the problems no one else can.

What you will do

• Own the monthly management accounts and balance sheet reconciliations across the group
• Lead the short-term cash flow forecast, challenging timings and risks with each department
• Build and manage budgets with the sales and construction teams
• Lead the year end and the company’s first external audit
• Be the go-to person for finance and COINS queries across the business
• Manage and develop a Finance Assistant and a Financial Analyst
• Improve reporting and how the business uses its site and house type data

What you will bring

• Strong management accounting experience and sound fundamentals
• Experience of a large ERP system; COINS is ideal, but SAP, Oracle or similar is welcome
• Housebuilding or property experience is a bonus, not a must
• ACA, ACCA, CIMA or qualified by experience; attitude matters more than letters
• Confidence to push back, the humility to ask questions, and a willingness to roll your sleeves up
