Finance Manager

In this Finance Manager role, you lead the finance function within an SME, partnering with senior leadership to drive financial performance. You’ll oversee day-to-day financial operations while supporting strategic decision-making and governance. The role combines hands-on financial management with building robust controls and a small team. You’ll impact project profitability and cash flow in a practical, collaborative environment.

• Production of monthly management accounts, budgets, forecasts and cashflow reporting
• Business partnering with senior leadership, providing financial and commercial insight
• Monitoring project profitability, WIP, costs and margins
• Managing payroll, VAT and statutory reporting requirements
• Overseeing sales ledger, purchase ledger, credit control and supplier payments
• Ensuring robust financial controls and identifying opportunities for process improvement
• Managing and developing a small finance team
• Supporting year-end processes and liaising with external advisors
• Overseeing stock and inventory controls, job costing and operational finance activities

• ACCA, ACA, CIMA qualified or qualified by experience
• Previous experience in a Finance Manager or senior finance position
• Experience managing payroll, VAT and statutory compliance
• Experience in construction, engineering, manufacturing or contracting environments
• WIP accounting, project costing and profitability analysis experience
• Commercially minded with the ability to influence and challenge stakeholders
• Comfortable operating in a hands-on SME environment
• Able to manage multiple priorities and drive improvements across the finance function
