Finance Manager (Full-Time)

Position Summary

Reporting to the Partners of a mid-sized Regina law firm, theFinance Manager is a key member of the leadership team responsible for theFirm’s financial operations, reporting, controls, budgeting, payroll, and lawfirm accounting requirements.

The successful candidate will provide strategic financial leadershipwhile maintaining hands-on oversight of day-to-day accounting, cash flow,compliance, and staff support.

Key Responsibilities

Accounting, Reporting and Controls

  • Lead the Firm’s accounting andfinancial management functions, including financial controls, policies,procedures, and continuous improvement.
  • Maintain the general ledger,supporting schedules, bank and trust reconciliations, and month-end/year-endworking papers.
  • Prepare financial statementsand corporate tax filings and coordinate year-end reporting with externalaccountants and auditors.
  • Oversee accounts payable,accounts receivable, government remittances, filings, and regulatorycompliance.

Budgeting, Cash Flow and Planning

  • Prepare annual budgets andforecasts for the Firm and related companies.
  • Monitor results against budget,analyze variances, and report meaningful financial insights to the Partners.
  • Manage cash flow and liquidityto support operational and Partner requirements.

Payroll and Compensation

  • Oversee payroll accuracy,timeliness, regulatory compliance, and related policies.
  • Support lawyer, staff, Counsel,and Partner compensation, distributions, and benefit-related administration.

Law Firm Operations and Leadership

  • Monitor financial performanceand provide analysis and recommendations to the Partnership.
  • Oversee client billing,collections, work-in-progress, Partner reporting, and Law Society trustaccounting requirements.
  • Lead, train, develop, andsupport accounting and payroll staff to meet operational objectives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree inAccounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • CPA designation completed or inprogress preferred.
  • Minimum 3–5 years ofaccounting, budgeting, analysis, and reporting experience.
  • Experience overseeingfinance/accounting operations and full-cycle payroll.
  • Strong knowledge of accountingprinciples, financial controls, cash flow management and regulatory compliance(payroll/employment standards legislation, GST/PST and income tax remittances).
  • Highly proficient with MicrosoftExcel; experience with legal accounting or practice management systems,including PCLaw, is an asset.
  • Law firm or professionalservices experience is an asset.

  • Able to work independently whilecollaborating effectively with the Partners and Firm leadership.

Reports To: Partners

Salary Range: Starting at $80,000 to $95,000, dependant on qualifications
