Financial Analyst

We are seeking a detail-oriented Financial Analyst to support financial planning, reporting, operational analysis, and business performance initiatives across a dynamic organization. This role partners closely with cross-functional teams, including Commercial, Finance, Human Resources, Operations, and senior leadership, to deliver meaningful insights, improve financial processes, and support strategic decision-making.

This is a six-month contract position. The role is hybrid, with four days per week in our North York office.

Financial Reporting & Business Analys

• Support monthly close activities through financial analysis, account reviews, accrual preparation, and variance investigation
• Prepare recurring financial reports and performance dashboards for business leaders and management
• Analyze departmental spending and provide commentary on key trends, risks, and opportunities
• Assist with forecasting, budgeting, and ad hoc financial analysis to support operational and strategic initiatives
• Present actionable insights to stakeholders to improve financial and operational performance

Inventory & Supply Chain Finan

• Coordinate financial processes related to inventory movements, product shipments, and supply chain transactions
• Monitor inventory balances and prepare regular inventory reporting packagesMaintain cost databases and support the accuracy of inventory-related financial records
• Prepare and reconcile inventory and in-transit accruals as part of the month-end close process
• Investigate and resolve inventory-related variances and discrepancies

Capital Planning & Investment Analys

• Support the administration and tracking of capital projects and investment spending
• Monitor actual expenditures against approved budgets and forecasts
• Assist in the preparation of financial justifications, business cases, and return-on-investment analysis
• Collaborate with business leaders to evaluate and prioritize capital initiatives
• Provide post-implementation analysis and reporting on completed projects

Commercial & Revenue Analyti

• Deliver sales and profitability analysis to support commercial decision-making
• Generate reports related to customer performance, sales trends, and business profitability
• Support the administration and reconciliation of customer incentive and rebate programs
• Validate financial data and ensure accurate reporting of commercial activities
• Respond to ad hoc analytical requests from business stakeholders

Systems, Reporting & Process Improveme

• Participate in testing and validation activities related to system enhancements and reporting tools
• Identify opportunities to improve reporting efficiency, data quality, and financial processes
• Support automation initiatives and reporting enhancements
• Partner with Finance, Operations, Technology, and Commercial teams to streamline workflows and strengthen controls
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance business performance and reporting accuracy

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, or a related discipline
• 4+ years of experience in financial planning and analysis, financial reporting, accounting, or business finance
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
• Experience supporting month-end close, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting activities
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools
• Experience working with ERP systems, business intelligence platforms, or data visualization tools is an asset
• Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Strong communication skills with the ability to partner effectively with both financial and operational stakeholders
• Exposure to capital investment analysis, operational finance, inventory accounting, or commercial finance is considered an asset
