About the Opportunity

Altis is seeking a Financial Controller to lead day-to-day accounting operations. This is a key leadership role within the finance team, working closely with the VP of Finance and partnering with leaders across the organization to ensure financial processes are accurate, compliant, and aligned with business objectives.

In this role, you will oversee the full-cycle accounting function while helping strengthen financial controls, improve reporting processes, and support operational growth. You will also play an important role in leading and mentoring a small accounting team and fostering a collaborative, high-performing finance function.

Your Responsibilities

  • Youll lead the full-cycle accounting function including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash management, and financial close activities.
  • In this role, youll prepare and present accurate monthly and annual financial statements in accordance with Canadian accounting standards.
  • Youll oversee year-end reporting, tax compliance processes, and ensure all regulatory filings are accurate and completed on time.
  • Youll manage credit policies, collections, and payment processes to support strong cash flow and liquidity management.
  • Youll develop and enhance internal controls, financial policies, and reporting processes to strengthen governance and reduce risk.
  • Youll mentor and guide a small accounting team, providing coaching and daily leadership to support their professional growth.

Skills and Qualifications

  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including time in a controllership or senior accounting leadership role
  • CPA designation required
  • Proven experience managing full-cycle accounting including GL, AP, AR, and financial close processes
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian accounting standards including ASPE and CRA regulatory requirements
  • Experience leading and mentoring accounting teams in a mid-sized organization
  • Proficiency with ERP systems, experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations is an asset
  • Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills
